MY STORY
Hi, I’m Bairbre.
I’m the founder of The Studio, in Clonakilty, West Cork, where I work as an Acupuncturist, Breathwork facilitator & Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. I also work with clients online.
My mission statement is that ‘People connect to their own innate healing capacity…’
I offer a space for exploration, helping others to understand themselves more fully and to find their own way forward.
What Informs My Work
Breathwork has been a transformational part of my practice. I trained with my teacher David, from whom I continue to learn. I facilitate these classes both in person and online.
Somatic Experiencing (SE) has become a recent focus of my work, discovered as part of my plant medicine integration support work. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), I draw on the work of Peter Levine, whose approach supports a gentle, body-based exploration of trauma and the nervous system.
Acupuncture has been an important part of my work since 2009. I undertook a postgraduate training program at Nanjing University in China. My work now focuses on fertility, pregnancy and pre-birthing (preparation for birth).
Yoga is a discipline that fully supports me physically. I qualified as an Iyengar teacher in 2012, inspired by my long-term teacher Pavara, a member of the Dublin Buddhist Order and Senior Iyengar teacher.

Plant medicine
I completed a 2-year herbal apprenticeship in Ireland and following this, spent 2 years working in a plant medicine centre in the Amazon of Peru, living with & learning from the Shipibo people & gaining an insight into their ancient knowledge of plants, including Ayahuasca. I continue to work in this way with plant dietas & ceremonies, which is an invaluable part of my personal work. With immense gratitude to the plants, I feel privileged to continue this work, supporting others in their processes while continuing to learn more about myself.

I was one of the 12 founding members of the Acupuncture Childbirth Team (ACT) Dublin. The team, now known as AFPI, is a group of established and registered acupuncturists specialising in fertility, pregnancy and childbirth, working in collaboration with fertility, maternity and paediatric services in Dublin. All members have undertaken postgraduate training in these areas.
I have also worked with the Acupuncture Foundation College as a clinical supervisor for third-year student clinics and examinations. In addition, I worked as an acupuncturist and yoga teacher with Dublin Simon Community on a voluntary basis, supporting programmes that helped raise awareness of complementary therapies among residents.
I am a registered member of the Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association and a Teacher Member of the Iyengar Yoga Association.
